Who I am
Born and bred in Sydney, a second-generation member of RACA for 30 years this November.
Building businesses
I studied at the University of Technology Sydney, graduating with a Bachelor of Business majoring in finance and marketing. I celebrated that graduation at RACA.
With two friends from university and a colleague from the advertising world, I started my first company in Sydney, business consulting and advertising, which evolved and grew into websites and business solutions.
Connections next saw me in Slovakia, working on the financial and economic consequences of the country joining the European Union, which it did on 1 May 2004. Next stop was North America, with Hewlett-Packard's international marketing division in Toronto and New York.
London called, and I spent ten wonderful years in that great city, working in technology scaleups as the sector took off. I built and sold one company, helped develop others, and mentored many founders.
Today
Back in Sydney, I am an investment partner at Avoca Capital and I mentor technology startup teams. By profession I am a project management specialist.
Thirty years at RACA
My father was a member. This November marks my 30th anniversary as a member of the RACA. The Club has been part of the biggest moments of my life: my university graduation, my Sydney 2000 Olympics party, and my engagement party.
These days you will find me in the gym, working in the Business Centre, at dinner in the restaurant, or ending the evening on the rooftop with other members. I serve on the Membership Committee and the Wellness Special Interest Group.
Why I am standing
I have seen RACA through good years and hard ones. For the last few years I have shown what a little attention can do for the atmosphere of this Club, without a seat at the Board table. I am standing because I want to do more of it, for every member, and because a Club is only as strong as how its members feel when they walk through the door.
